The new format has gone all gray, and the pages do take a lot more time to produce, but I'm quite happy with the end result. No more black gutters, too! Now that's a pain to clean up. It seems to give it more character, though, so it's more than worth the effort. Now, this new look might lead to the occasional delay since, as I said, it takes longer to produce a page. Hopefully you'll all enjoy the change and will keep reading! Thanks for bearing with me!

Oh, yeah. There's some news to report, too. I've just been accepted as a member of the Transplant Comics webcomic collective!

Posted by Zappit

Starting today, the comic will move from four-panel gags to a more rapid-fire graphic novel. The stories will be deeper, the characters more fleshed out, and the new format will have even more jokes.

Granted, I know the cover image here seems like a bit of a disappointment for those who read the strip every week, but the cover was important, and I felt needed to be here. I'm going to experiment with colors and shading in the comic now, to really help make this feel fresh and new. Thanks for listening, and keep reading!

This is canon, by the way. Every time I draw the moon now, there will be a significant chunk missing from it. It's not quite as good as when Ben Edlund tormented the moon in The Tick, but I hope you all enjoy this, anyway. It's much better than what I had originally planned, and lets us end this little storyline here.

This was a tough one to draw. I wanted to use a nealry solid black background throughout to make sure the moon "popped" on the page, and since I frame with black gutters, I had to figure out how to properly frame the panel with the little amount of white I did use. I'm happy with it.

Readers - Informal poll! I'm thinking of abadoning the four-panel format I've been using and going with a more traditional comic page layout - the panels would not be shoehorned into any specific format. It would allow for more complicated storytelling and perhaps even some additional jokes, but I've gotten pretty good at working with the four-panel format. Tell me what you think in the comments!

This is working out; I just don't have time to get it finished and uploaded on Sundays.

Oh, and I got my first review a couple weeks back, and forgot to link to it. http://koltreg.blogspot.com/2008/12/under-ever-watchful-eye-of-68668.html Seems I did okay on that one.

Note - Pixel will probably be out of commision for a bit this week as it switches hosts.

Posted by Zappit
